Truth and/or Dare

Are you familiar with this particular game? Any socially-adept youngster could brief us with the simple mechanics of this popular pastime - throw in a bottle, form a circle, sit on the ground ala-Indian and spin the bottle away. Whomever the bottle points to will choose whether to answer the truth or do a dare. Really simple game but when played with the naughtiest, craftiest and most creative of your friends, will guarantee one heck of a good time! (o’__’o)

But I will not be dealing on the questions or dares usually dealt with during this game though the subject looks appealing. What I want to broach fully is the concept of TRUTH and DARE and how I managed to extract some valuable lessons on it. Let’s associate TRUTH with reality and DARE with possibilities.

Our reality as human beings is that we are not perfect: we have flaws, limitations, constraints. We have our own share of strengths as well as weaknesses. We may have the beauty but without the corresponding brain. Or the brain but with no access to a certain mass of wealth. No one has it all.

On one side, our possibilities starts on the same page as our reality - that we are not perfect. However, what’s good is that we have been created uniquely - set apart from anybody else in this planet. Every flaw, limitation, strength, weakness of ours is unique. No any other person have the exact same set of inabilities and skills as we have.

When we try to correlate the two - reality and possibilities, the usual conclusion reached is this: I AM ME. I CAN DO THIS. I CANNOT DO THAT. End. We view the TRUTH as a hindrance to achieving the DARES of life instead of taking the TRUTH as the means to accomplish these DARES.

> The TRUTH may have help us know ourselves but is the DARE that help ourselves become more. The TRUTH could have help us understand ourselves better but is the DARE that will make us best. TRUTH is good. The TRUTH keeps us in check most of the time but it is the DARE that allows us to be taken beyond what our TRUTH confines us.

Simple rule as it is: Know your TRUTHS. Achieve the DARES.So how about a round you say? Spin it away! :)

Crossroads Crisis

See here. Recently, I’ve been reading this book: 101 Success Secrets for Women by Sue Augustine.

I bought it in respect of what I personally refer to as my crossroads crisis - that particular situation wherein you’re in front of so many roads leading to the beautiful horizon. It’s all good. It looks like all these roads are really a means to reach that beautiful sunrise up ahead. Thing is, you cannot pass through all these roads all at the same time. One road at a time. But more practically so, just choose one road and prep yourself up for what this particular road has in store for you.

Years back, I always prided myself that I will be broadcaster. Inside that magical box on every household, delivering the freshest news available, travelling to different places, shaking hands with the politicians - you get the picture. But life has a funny way of showing, more like shoving us that particular path we should be.

But when life takes us on a different journey than what we have originally planned for, do we just stop there? Reveling on our could-haves and should-haves. I thought so too. But when I picked up Sue’s book, it gave me a different perspective and take on my 23-year old life. It taught me to dream. Again. And not just those I-wanna-be-a-____(fill with chosen career)-when-I-grow-up-dreams. But those dreams that will make me grow in a more well-rounded ground. Those that will define my purpose for living. Those that will hone me to the very best individual I could be - the way God has really planned for me.

What I did? I wrote all those things I aspire of becoming, having, learning for the next three years of my life. I plan to share these things to you so that I have persons around me who will rejoice with me when I’ve achieved one of them, remind me if I’m slacking on getting these things done, share with me opportunities on how will I achieve these dreams and more importantly, pray for these dreams to unravel and become a reality.

And that, I may say, is how to find that personal oasis I am looking for. In my life.

The cake is from the Corporate Audit Division. Thanks Sirs and Madams!
The slice of mango is from my friend, Ayish. Who by the way, celebrated her first year anniversary in the Company last month and opted to celebrate with me. Kahati sa gastusin. Hehe :D

That awesome yet lazy feeling that you know it is your day and that no one will dare mess it for you that you just want to lax around and do absolutely nothing.
And hence that same lazy feeling caused me to fill-up my mug up to the rim with searing hot cappuccino to, hopefully, be awakened.
Bottom line: FUTILE! I guess coffee does not work on me anymore. Ho-hum :O
